With technological developments and growing concerns about sustainability, the landscape of the construction industry is undergoing a major transformation. Companies can no longer ignore the impact of their activities on the environment, and the integration of sustainable development is becoming an unavoidable priority. In response to these challenges, IMT Nord Europe has created the Master in ADVANCED DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT OF DURABLE CONSTRUCTIONS (ADMODC). The mission of this program is to train civil engineering professionals capable of rethinking construction by integrating sustainable practices. By focusing on the use of innovative, bio-based and sustainable materials, the program aims to minimize the environmental impact while maximizing the efficiency of construction projects.

In addition, your management and project management skills will be developed during a semester at Institut Mines-Télécom Business School, our academic partner.

Admissions

Prerequisites

Hold a Bachelor’s degree (BSc, BEng, BTech) or equivalent, ideally in the fields of civil engineering, construction, materials, environmental sciences, geology or architecture.
Proof of a B2 level of English (TOEIC, TOEFL, IELTS, etc.).

Admissions process

Application and interview:
Once we have received the complete application file, the candidate is informed by email whether his or her application has been accepted. If this is the case, an interview is organized with the head of training to assess the candidate’s technical knowledge and career plans. The language used for this interview is English.
Candidates will be notified as soon as possible of their selection for the program.

Program

The international master’s degree “Design and Management of the Industry 4.0” lasts 2 years and is structured as follows:

  • Year 1 – Semester 1: Engineering programme at IMT Nord Europe, Douai campus
  • Year 1 – Semester 2: Business and Management studies at IMT-BS, Evry-Courcouronnes campus
  • Year 2 – Semester 1: Engineering programme at IMT Nord Europe, Douai campus
  • Year 2 – Semester 2: End-of-study project, 6-month internship in a company or research laboratory

French lessons are also included in the programme, to maximize your chances of pursuing a career in France.

  • By evaluating the strength and lifespan of natural geomaterials as well as traditional and innovative materials exposed to different environments.
  •  By conducting laboratory tests ont the degradation and repairability of construction materials.
  •  By integrating life cycle assessment (LCA) methods to compare the environmental impact of materials.
  •  By proposing maintenance and repair solutions to enhance the longevity of structures.
  • By collecting and processing data from construction projects (performance, energy consumption, emissions).
  •  By using modeling and data management software (BIM, specialized digital tools).
  •  By building dashboards to monitor sustainability and structural performance.
  •  By analyzing real datasets to guide decisions on design, materials, and project management.
  • By integrating environmental and social criteria from the early design phases.
  • By evaluating and comparing multiple design scenarios based on their technical, economic, and ecological impacts.
  •  By leveraging BIM and digital modeling to simulate sustainable design alternatives.
  •  By guiding and coordinating project teams toward solutions that optimize durability, repairability, and recyclability.
  •  By studying the mechanical, thermal, and environmental properties of bio-based, composite, or recycled materials.

  •  By comparing the performance and costs of traditional and innovative materials for a construction project.
  •  By incorporating innovative materials into structural design to address sustainability and performance challenges.
  • By exploring emerging technologies applied to civil engineering, particularly 3D printing of concrete and composites.
  • By designing and modeling parts or structural elements intended for additive manufacturing.
  • By studying real cases of construction sites or prototypes using 3D printing to optimize timeframes, costs, and environmental impact.

Fees

Programme fees are :

  • €4,500 per year for European Union students, i.e. €9,000 for 2 years;
  • €6,500 per year for international students (outside the European Union), i.e. €13,000 for 2 years.

An application fee of €60 is payable at the time of application. This fee is non-refundable and can be paid by bank transfer.

Application

If you are not a citizen of the European Union, we invite you to consult the conditions for continuing your studies in France and to register at  la plateforme « études en France ». Please note that you must comply with the application deadline indicated by CampusFrance in your country. No application will be accepted after the deadline indicated in each country.

We recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible. This will give you the time you need to complete all your consular formalities before the summer, which is a busy time for consulates every year.
