Cybersecurity

Phishing, ransomware, denial of service (DOS) are just some of the many terms that are unfortunately now part of everyday life for companies. The development of digital activities brings with it the growth of cybercrime. It affects everyone: large companies, public institutions but also more and more mid-sized businesses and SMEs. And the phenomenon is not about to stop with the explosion in the number of connected objects, and working from home being more and more commonplace.

Strategic importance

This makes Cybersecurity increasingly important and even strategic. It includes all the laws, policies, tools, devices, security concepts and mechanisms, risk management methods and technologies that can be used to protect people and the tangible and intangible IT assets of country states and organisations. Given the financial stakes, the budgets set aside for security are constantly increasing.

The need for specialists

We have to be able to rely on specialist cybersecurity expertise. According to the CESIN, 90% of companies lament the shortage of profiles in this sector. Jobs are diversifying and specialising and first and foremost it is training that plays a major role. This is why researchers from the Centre for Education, Research and Innovation in Digital Systems are carrying out work on cybersecurity and attending training courses at IMT Nord Europe, in particular the Specialised Masters in Cybersecurity Engineering.
