The SAGE (Sciences de l’Atmosphère et Génie de l’Environnement) department of IMT Nord Europe organized remotely the annual workshop of the European Research infrastructure ACTRIS NOx/VOC QA workshop from 12 to 14 May 2020
The Research Infrastructure ACTRIS (Aerosol, Cloud and Trace Gases Research InfraStructure, https://www.actris.eu) is the pan-European initiative that consolidates strategies amongst European partners for observation of aerosols, clouds, and trace gases.
ACTRIS aims at integrating European ground-based stations equipped with advanced atmospheric probing instrumentation for aerosols, clouds, and short-lived gas-phase species. ACTRIS brings together more than 100 laboratories of excellence from 25 different countries working on atmospheric sciences.
Since 2013, the SAGE department of IMT Nord Europe has been involved in the construction of the ACTRIS research infrastructure, as a unit of the European topical centre for reactive trace gases in-situ measurements (CiGas).
As in previous years, SAGE would have had the pleasure to organize and host the meeting at IMT Nord Europe in Douai, but due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the workshop has taken place remotely… and it was a success!
It brought together over 60 researchers from different European institutions, involved in ACTRIS and EUROCHAMP, covering 12 EU countries.
The workshop contributed to a significant reduction of carbon footprint compared to a face-to-face meeting. The agenda covered, this year, a session dedicated to the impact of the COVID-19 lockdown on air quality, based on high quality measurements within ACTRIS.
