As part of its development and collaboration with the business world, IMT Nord Europe leads industrial chairs. They are devoted to multidisciplinary themes in a rigorous scientific approach, with the help of leading partners.

ECOSED 4.0

This industrial chair is conducted with 12 partners:

ECOSED, standing for ÉCOnomie circulaire des SÉDiments [Circular ECOnomy of SEDiments], is unique in France to date. Its aim is to create a scientific, technological and partnership-based strategy around the management of port and river sediments with a view to recycling them in road technology or concrete products. One of the unique characteristics of this chair is the multidisciplinary nature of the research carried out combining material and environmental aspects (mechanics, physics, chemistry, etc.) but also health (eco-toxicology) and the consideration of socio-economic components (economy, geography, sociology, law). To do this, it brings together a large panel of partners: port or canal managers, producers and users of building and public works materials, design offices, etc.

ECOCIRNOV

This industrial chair is conducted with ARMINES, the Syndicat Mixte d’Elimination et de Valorisation des Déchets [Mixed Federation for the Elimination and Recovery of Waste] (SYMEVAD), the European Metropole of Lille (MEL) and the Institut Supérieur de Plasturgie d’Alençon (ISPA).

To meet the needs of public operators (city, urban and municipal communities) and businesses, IMT Nord Europe encouraged the creation of the ECOCIRNOV chair. The objective is to increase the recycling rate of household or industrial waste and to achieve greater added value in the use of certain by-products already recovered. The chair begins with an analysis of the waste flows collected in the areas covered by the MEL and SYMEVAD. It will allow research into their optimisation, both by data analysis methods and by investigating new avenues for non-recovered parts. The research program will then focus on the establishment of Local Recycling Units (ULRs). A first action of an industrial nature has also been initiated, jointly with ISPA, on the waste recovery of brominated plastics.

NEO

This industrial chair is conducted with Valeo Systèmes Thermiques and ARMINES.
NEO (Numerical and Experimental Optimisation platform) relates to the optimisation of on-board heat exchangers. This chair is at the very heart of what IMT Nord Europe does. It concerns both a priority area of research for the school – energy optimisation – and a strategic sector for Hauts-de-France, the country’s no. 1 car manufacturing region. This collaborative research project will make it possible to build analytical methodologies and experimental and digital platforms to produce a cleaner and smarter car.
